Visiting Melbourne
Venue
The Forum will be held at the Melbourne Brain Centre on the 29th and 30th March 2019. Located in the heart of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct in Parkville, the area is well-known for its high concentration of leading biomedical Institutes and top hospitals (The Royal Melbourne, The Royal Women’s and The Royal Children’s Hospitals). Just a few tram stops down towards the Melbourne CBD gives endless dining and sightseeing options.

Getting Here
Public Transport
The Melbourne Brain Centre is easily accessible by the number 19 tram towards North Coburg running up Elizabeth St and along Royal Parade. The tram stops just outside the entrance steps at Stop 11. Alternatively, tram number 59 stops outside The Royal Melbourne Hospital where you can walk across Grattan St past the VCCC and continue further up Royal Parade. Care must be taken to follow all pedestrian signs around the Grattan Street area as major tunnelling works are occurring during this period.
Parking
There is limited paid parking underneath the Brain Centre at AUD $26 for the full day on Friday with a discounted weekend rate on Saturday. More paid parking can be found along the streets and in Berkeley St, off Grattan St.
Please take care and allow plenty of extra time when driving through the area – the corner of Royal Parade and Grattan St has been blocked off to traffic due to Metro tunnel construction.
Accommodation
We have negotiated special rates with a few nearby establishments for attendees visiting Melbourne in March 2019. All options are located within a 10min walk or a quick tram ride up Royal Parade. Please contact the Event Manager for any assistance with accommodation (opus@opus-tjr.org.au).
A block away from the Melbourne Brain Centre by foot and a few tram stops away from the Melbourne CBD, Rydges is conveniently located on the other side of The Uni of Melbourne campus. We advise care when walking to the Forum venue along Grattan St due to construction on the new Metro rail tunnel.
Contemporary and clean, the Jasper Hotel is right next to the iconic Queen Victoria Market with easy access to the Melbourne CBD. The Melbourne Brain Centre is just a short 10 minute walk up Elizabeth St/Royal Parade, or three tram stops away on Tram No. 19 (a Myki is required for this short tram ride).
Please use the promo code ‘UNIMELB19’ when booking online to take advantage of a special 10% discount.
A relaxed and informal establishment with a pub downstairs, the newly refurbished Naughton’s is a fantastic choice! Situated right in the middle of the Melbourne Biomedical Precinct with the Melbourne Brain Centre located just across the road, you can’t get a better location!
We have reserved all the rooms for 2 nights over the 29th and 30th March so it will not be available online.
